Shrub Hill Blueprint

Shrub Hill Blueprint

Concept Masterplan for Worcester Shrub Hill

YOU&ME worked on the Shrub Hill Spatial Blueprint comission with AR Urbanism for Worcester County Council, Worcester City Council and Worcester LEP.

Located in the heart of Worcester City Centre and covering an area of c.20 hectares, the Shrub Hill Quarter in Worcester is a long-undervalued area with significant untapped potential, largely due to its size, location, and strategic rail connectivity. It is a regionally significant regeneration opportunity which has the potential to underpin the long-term vitality, growth and identity of Worcester as a place to both live and work. Over time, Shrub Hill will evolve, transitioning from service and industrial activities to more professional, creative and leisure activities supported by a strong ancillary amenity offer. The Quarter will also become increasingly more mixed with new homes complementing the established employment character of Shrub Hill.

Prior to commissioning the Blueprint, work streams undertaken had comprised a mix of technical and strategic work which provided a strong platform of evidence and aspiration regarding the nature of the opportunity. The Spatial Blueprint has been developed as an ambitious yet practical and dynamic resource that will underpin aspirations for the area and provide a valuable reference tool that will help shape, guide, and coordinate future decisions, investment, and activities in the area. The Spatial Blueprint sits alongside a number of other documents and technical evidence bases, including the Economic Strategy and Delivery and Funding Strategy. The Spatial Blueprint is accompanied by and should be read in conjunction with the Shrub Hill Plot Atlas, a design guide document which demonstrates the application of the Shrub Hill Blueprint design principles to the scale of the individual development areas. This ensures the responsiveness of the Blueprint, making it adaptable to the inevitable changes which could occur over the next decades.
